Casa de Onda Brings Elevated Mexican American Fusion Cuisine &Tulum-Inspired Vibes to Triangle Square
Casa de Onda
Casa de Onda, featuring elevated Mexican American fusion cuisine, has opened at Triangle Square. Casa de Onda, translated as “house of vibes”, offers a sophisticated and inviting atmosphere with a Tulum-inspired feeling.
Boasting one of the largest patios for al fresco dining in Orange County, Casa de Onda welcomes diners with large palapas, multiple firepits and lush landscaping. The contemporary restaurant has light gray, white and black accents throughout, highlighted with limewash finishes. Soft blue and green lighting and music nightly seemingly transports guests to the turquoise coast of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula.
Crafted by Executive Chef Ryan Perez, Casa de Onda’s menu is rooted in Latin tradition and globally inspired, with an emphasis on bold flavors, vibrant colors and playful textures. A Southern California native, Chef Perez is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy, with experience under culinary icons including Thomas Keller at Bouchon Beverly Hills, Wolfgang Puck at CUT in Beverly Hills, Michael Kang at 5 Feet, Alan Wong at his former eponymous Honolulu restaurant, and the late Michael Chiarello at Bottega in Yountville.
Serving dinner nightly as well as lunch on weekends, Casa de Onda features signature dishes including Shrimp & Grit Frites (jumbo shrimp sauteed and served over crispy cheddar-poblano grit fries with a tomato-chipotle ranchera sauce, corn salsa and a drizzle of crema); Oaxaca Mole Braised Beef Short Rib (tender beef short rib slowly braised in rich, house-made Oaxacan mole and served with Mexican rice and refried beans); Asada Vampiro Tacos (marinated carne asada served on corn tortillas with burnt cheddar crust, guacamole and salsa); and Tres Leches Cake with Yuzu Curd (a bright, modern twist on the classic, finished with pecan praline and fresh raspberries.)
Guests can also enjoy flavorful appetizers like Shrimp Ceviche with Mango-Lime Vinaigrette, and shareable plates including Loaded Nachos and a Chips & Salsa Flight.
Casa de Onda’s cocktail program offers a playful and polished mix of modern Mexican cocktails, thoughtfully layered with house infusions, fresh juices, and regional spirits. Some of the house specialties include La Jefa (a luxe margarita with Don Fulano Blanco and Grand Gala); La Tóxica (spicy, cooling, and herbaceous with jalapeño tequila, cucumber, and mint); Sandía ( a summertime favorite with watermelon, nixta corn liqueur, and lime); Bad Bunny (tropical and vibrant with mango, pineapple, carrot, and tajín), and Papacito (smoky and sultry, featuring cristalino tequila, mezcal, piloncillo, and bitters.)
A curated tequila and mezcal selection, a full wine list, and bubbly-forward spritzes round out the program.
“I love to travel and two of my favorite places are Tulum and Dubai, both of which are beautiful coastal destinations known for their amazing cuisine, vibrant nightlife and music,” said owner Alex Petrosian. “Casa de Onda is our love letter to that energy. We have created a sultry yet refined restaurant that is also warm and approachable, where you come for the flavors and stay for the vibe.”
Casa de Onda is located on the upper level of Triangle Square at 1870 Harbor Blvd. in Costa Mesa. The restaurant will be open for dinner nightly at 5 p.m., and open for lunch and dinner on weekends beginning at 12pm. Casa de Onda will open for brunch later this summer.
